At the Sandwich Independent Day School, we recognize the difficult choices parents face in raising their children and offer the following commitment to you:

Providing young children with a nurturing, safe and satisfying early school experience is what we strive to do on a daily basis. It is our most sincere desire that every child who passes through our doors develop a strong social and emotional foundation from which they will flourish. We will do our best to ensure your child has a positive experience.

The Sandwich Independent Day School philosophy is rooted in the concept that children naturally enjoy learning. Our goal is to provide a program that fosters a lifetime love of learning - starting at a very tender age.

Fertile Ground for Young Learners:

At the Sandwich Independent Day School, a carefully developed curriculum, a stimulating environment and a warm, nurturing teaching staff provide the necessary fertile ground that is an absolute must in cultivating the natural curiosity of our young, enthusiastic learners.

Fostering the Love of Learning:

Our goals aim directly at making every day a rewarding and joyful experience for children. We nurture the joy of learning by using high interest activities. Children develop fine and gross motor skills, they learn the importance of sharing and respecting others, and they become confident and responsible members of a community.

Activity Centered Learning Areas:

Young children learn best through developmentally appropriate play. At the Sandwich Independent Day School, children have many opportunities for creative expression at our activity centers filled with multi-sensory activities that promote hands on, discovery learning.

We maintain an open door policy with our parents and pride ourselves on being not only child centered, but also family friendly. We welcome and encourage parents to bring a special element to the school by volunteering and being involved in their child's early educational experience. We have a very active parent council.

Our Parent Testimonials:

"My daughter looks forward to going to school everyday. She can't wait to see what's new. Whether it's a different storybook, a craft project, theme based dramatic play center or time spent with a friend or teacher"

~Wendy Moore, Teacher

"We appreciate the way learning is accomplished through hands-on, self-chosen activities. It's refreshing to see young children given appropriate options on how they spend their school time."

~ Brian Forrester, Senior Marketing Executive

All students are involved in developing good citizenship skills. These include safety skills and involvement in community projects that promote the joy of helping others. We participate in an array of community service projects that include the elderly, needy children, and environmental causes. Children experience the satisfaction of accomplishing useful work while
reaching out to help others.

The school was founded in 2001 by Christine Golding,
